Occupational Therapists & Occupational Therapy Assistants:
Pediatric Occupational Therapy is a holistic profession that assists children in developing skills that they need to grow to be independent, functional adults. Whether due to sensory processing difficulties, fine motor or cognitive disabilities, OT seeks to assist children in developing the skills they need in order to be able to complete all Activities of Daily Living (i.e. feeding, dressing, bathing, play, learning, etc). Through play, Pediatric OT works to create a mind-body connection to develop all the skills a child needs to learn and grow. Though many children may not have a diagnosis, a few of the common diagnoses OT treat include children with developmental delays, gross and fine motor delays, sensory processing disorder, Down Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADD, ADHD, ODD, connective tissue disorders, dyslexia, dysgraphia, head trauma, NAS, children that have failure to thrive and many more!
